Third generation viticulturist, wine expert and distiller. Coming from a vine county (Fteri, western Phthiotis), love for vines was in his genes, so his occupation with wine making, started in 1995, was in part unavoidable. His first personal plantings were the French varieties of Merlot, Syrah, Ugni Blanc and the Greek Roditis, while since 1999 –together with his education in France- plants a new vineyard with Grenache Blanc & rouge and Pinot noir. His knowledge and love of wine placed him between the top viticulturists in the following years. From 2006 up until now he is responsible for the completed care of the Pyrgos Petreza vineyard.
In 1980, George Belbas, creator of Pyrgos Petreza, started to collect old materials from tore-down houses and ruins in the area of Spata. He collects old building blocks, wooden doorjambs marbles, railings, roof tiles, wellheads, nails from the tracks of the old Athens-Laurion railroad and everything that has architectural or historical value. He deposits them in his family estate at Petreza. In essence, he gathers pieces of memory and history, which he will transfigure into a new narrative.
